The Place of Hope is a nonprofit serving Houston families with meals, essential supplies, and encouragement when they need it most. Together—with donors, churches, and caring neighbors—we are building a brighter tomorrow.

Nutritious meals and essential groceries—both perishable and nonperishable—available year-round for individuals and families in need.

An annual program providing local youth with backpacks filled with school supplies to help them start the year ready to learn.

Clothing, household goods, and everyday essentials offered at a reduced cost, giving families the dignity of choosing what they need most.

Each Thanksgiving, we provide baskets of food and holiday essentials to families in need, carrying forward Jarrell Mitchell’s legacy of generosity and togetherness. Your donation helps us share the warmth of the season and ensure every family has a meal to gather around.

About us
Founded in 2021, by Carolyn Dawkins, The Place of Hope was created to address unmet needs in Houston, Texas. During storms, holidays, and times of crisis, families often struggled to find help when they needed it most. That’s why we are here—to provide food, clothing, supplies, and most importantly, hope.
We partner with organizations, churches, and community leaders to uplift families with practical aid and encouragement. Whether it’s groceries, clothing, prayer, or just a listening ear, we believe in serving the whole person.
At The Place of Hope, we know that we are stronger together than apart. By working side by side, we can lift burdens, restore dignity, and shine light into the lives of our neighbors.
